Overview

Tape and mud are the foundation a finish is built on.

Most cracks and visible seams in a finished wall trace back to taping that was rushed. Tape that is bedded tight, corners that are set straight, and compound that is built up in clean coats give you a wall that stays flat and crack-resistant for years.

We tape and mud new installs, additions, and remodels — running seams, inside and outside corners, corner bead, and fastener spots — then build the joints so the finisher has a true surface to work from.

Whether you need taping only or taping through a finished, paint-ready wall, we set the foundation right.

Our Process

Four steps from first call to finished wall.

No surprises, no mystery. Here's how a typical taping & mudding job runs with Brizzee Drywall.
STEP 01

Tape

Seams and corners are taped and bedded tight into a first coat of compound.

STEP 02

Fill Coat

A second coat builds the joint and starts feathering it into the field.

STEP 03

Finish Coat

A final coat is feathered wide so the joint reads flat across the wall.

STEP 04

Sand & Hand Off

We sand smooth and leave a true surface ready for finishing or texture.

FAQ · Taping & Mudding

Common taping & mudding questions.

Don't see your question here? Call (208) 530-3308.

What is the difference between taping and finishing?
Taping and mudding builds the joints — bedding tape and coating seams, corners, and fasteners. Finishing is the final sanding and skim work that makes the whole surface paint-ready. We do both and can quote them together or separately.
Why do seams crack, and can you prevent it?
Most seam cracks come from tape that was not bedded properly or compound applied too thick, too fast. Bedding tape tight and building clean coats greatly reduces cracking over time.
Do you do corner bead?
Yes — inside corners, outside corners, and metal or paper-faced corner bead set straight and true.
Can you re-tape cracked seams in an older home?
Yes. We can cut out and re-tape seams and corners that have cracked or separated, then finish and texture-match the area.
